If your Mini-Splits are acting up, you’ll want to get them checked out immediately. Common system failure results when the system is losing refrigerant. This is surprisingly common in Mini-splits when they aren’t installed correctly.
Each indoor unit connects to the outdoor unit with a set of copper tubes. Those are connected to each end of the system with “Flare Fitting” which are usually handmade compression fittings. There are at least 4 of these for every indoor unit you have. If they aren’t done correctly, they can cause the system to leak refrigerant. So for a 4 zone system, you have at least 16 points of failure to contend with.
We will diagnose the whole system, we’ll look for issues like that with the goal of getting your system up and running again.
Other issues you’ll find are with the blower motors coming off balance and they start to make weird noises.
If you ever see water coming out of the front of the unit, shut it down immediately and give us a call. This is a clogged condensate drain.
Mini-splits can be a bit more challenging on the maintenance side because there are multiple pieces of equipment. A routine maintenance generally takes longer (which means it costs more) and as noted above, there are a lot more fail points. These are all things to consider on the front end if you’re considering a new Mini-split system or possibly comparing it to a High Velocity system
